Meant2B is looking to get “Closer” in their new video. The hot new RnB duo has continued to give us hit music whether its uptempos for the club or songsabout the problems we all face today. Meant2B, comprised of Dele Olasiji and Tre’ McCoy, brings us their new slow tempo joint “Closer” produced by Caviar for Secret Specialist. The track brings you to a place where we all have been, when someone tries to get closer to that special person, only to have them push back because of their fear of getting hurt. Meant2B brings them to a comfortable spot with their sultry voices and lyrics. Listen and watch “Closer” above.

Continuing with his well received solo project, ‪Slum Village’s Young RJ prepares fans for his new single, “Issues”. Issues is a creative collaboration between artists that share a similar artistry and background. Young RJ delivers thought provoking lyrics with ‪BJ the Chicago Kid finessing the track with his soulful vocals. The single was produced by Young RJ and Detroit’s emerging producer, DAG.

Issues follows up, “Wait”, his popular track with ‪Boldy James and ‪Pete Rock that premiered on Mass Appeal. Young RJ is setting the bar high amongst his rap peers by linking up with unique artists in the game and creating a new wave that’s undeniable.

Previously, Young RJ and ‪BJ the Chicago Kid worked together on “Expressive”, a single off Slum’s album, “YES”. Linking up again on “Issues”, their lyrics paint a picture of our current political climate, inner cities, and of course… personal inner demons.

“Issues” is the third single from his debut solo album, “Blaq RoyalT” which is slated for an October 10, 2017 release.

Brandon Bonine releases a new video for “Remember My Name.” Read what he had to say about it below.
I watched my grandma go through a terrible heartbreak with the loss of my Grandpa. At the same time, I was going through a break-up and had a parallel of falling in love with someone only to have them move on. My Grandma and I were left with broken hearts and both of our stories were falling apart for different reasons. Nothing was like it used to be. I wanted a song and video that showed the heartbreak of growing old with someone, losing them, and living in their shadow.” – Brandon Bonine

With new music being released daily, causing an oversaturation in the market, it’s not very often that raw musical talent is showcased in the forefront. Rey King is looking to change that. Already heavily accomplished as writer and producer, has been Grammy nominated and winning an ASCAP Award for his songwriting chops, King now has his sight set on his own brand as a recording artist. Today he unveils his official music video for his brand new single “Kalimbo.” Describing the song, Rey King shared “Kalimbo means a way of life, it’s a way of doing you. I feel the video shows exactly that.” He continued with “I made Kalimbo from being inspired by what’s happening in the game right now. Guys like PartyNextDoor, Drake & Chris Brown all have brought a vibe & I wanted to share my spin or perspective on that vibe.”

California’s very own Cola is a budding artist that has taken on the art of creating music to channel his aggressions–those of which many can relate to. He’s never really opened up about his own personal mental health dealings, so his recent vulnerable moment via IG, as well as his latest release, “Someone To Talk To” comes in as something special. Inspired by Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington’s recent suicide, Cola’s new release is simply a message to tell you, the listener, that if you’re going through some sh*t, you’re not alone… and if you’re at peace, somebody (probably very close to you) isn’t. This new drop is a push to encourage and support the ones that need you. Take this as a reminder to reach out to those who you love and see how they’re doing. Oakland, California has served up many diverse talents within the last year or 2, allowing the Oaktown to become a melting pot of vast musical influence. Sinemax, a rather experimental talent branching from the city contributes to the ever-growing success in his city with his new 2-part drop off, “ArrowHead/MostHigh”. This nearly 5-minute track explores fun, bouncy waves with the vibe, setting a quirky tone with the first part of the track, and then simmering down to a more melodic tune for the second half.

This song is a great example of Sinemax’s overall artistry, as he plays over a commercial sound with his innovative approach.

“ArrowHead/MostHigh” is Sinemax’s latest well-rounded track for the summer. Check it out above.

Norfolk, Va Hip-Hop artist TwanLite has been working on his new mixtape, “TLZ EP2: L.I.A.R.S.” since 2015, after dropping off his debut body of work. In a time like now where it seems as if those that are put in position to protect and serve are abusing their power to continue furthering generational hatred and racism, those with a voice have to make it a mission to speak out. Lite has made that his duty with his new body of work, having the artwork display a black boy slain in the middle of the street by a police officer.

The controversial cover art was meant to portray the sad reality of what has been happening to people of color since the beginning of time, and the project itself plays off of that notion as well. Titled as an acronym, “L.I.A.R.S.,” which means (Life Is About Revolving Successfully), the messages encrypted in the artwork and the music are explained throughout all 17 featured tracks.

“TLZ EP2: L.I.A.R.S.” is filled with life lessons. Coining himself as a “novelist,” TwanLite hopes to keep us woke with his new music. Tune in above.

Belize-born, Toronto-based artist Asun Eastwood’s debut EP, Nimbus, is brimming with mafioso-rap tales that are both lyrically rich and straight from the soul. Across these nine tracks, the up-and-coming rapper tells his horror stories through the lens of someone who’s actually lived them—because he actually did.

This is evident not just in the way Eastwood details his run-ins with other cats in city but in the clear-cut facts that he’s been through some shit. As he outlines on standout cut “Asun’s Story,” he lost his brother at a young age and was also shot, stabbed, and left for dead.

Hailing from the Northern Bay Area, The Enlightened Minds Collective release their first project, with founder Lemel Mikell‘s self titled debut project, Lemel Mikell. Keeping the track count short and sweet, Lemel nonetheless offers up a diverse tracklist equipped with multiple styles. An accumulation of ten years of musical experience, he taps into his trap arsenal to create a multitude of different sounds. Inspired by a lack of diversity in his local music scene, Lemel aims to pave the way for Northern Bay Area musicians to gain notability in the industry. Although the Bay has helped shaped Lemel and his style, he’s definitely not just another Bay Area rapper. The project is produced by fellow EMC member Alan Paul and is recorded, mixed, and mastered by Bay Area vet Starski at the legendary Grill Studios. The project also offers a feature from EMC artist Nat Moss on track 4. This project is sure to place Lemel at the forefront of the Northern Bay Area’s musical arena! The project is also available on Apple Music, YouTube, Spotify, Tidal, Google Play, and Amazon Music.

“Got it Going On” is the latest single from MSB, and it serves the first single from the eagerly awaited album “Willing to Try”. “Got It Going On” was recently featured on XM Sirius Satellite radio station XM The Pulse on Train Tracks with Pat Monahan and the video premiered via the Huffington Post. The album features twelve tracks and will be released in 3 separate Eps over the next year. Sonically, the new songs blend modern synths and keyboards along with acoustic guitars and atmospheric electrics. The album was co-written and produced by Jim McGorman (Gwen Stefani, Avril Levine, Poison). Jim had the following to say about working with Matt. “Matt is a true artist in that he has definitive views on a wide range of subjects and isn’t afraid to put himself out there. Connecting people through music is very important to him, and I respect him for that. He is also very honest in his creativity, and I think that comes through in his vocal performances. ”

No Label Necessary are a new school rap duo consisting of Thony Remy (U.S) & Creepah (Aus). The diversity of styles, clever wordplay, work pace and charisma has given the group singles on social media reaching over 100k views and their fans wanting more.

Thony Remy & Creepah both were actively creating music in the local scene before they joined forces, with Thony Remy releasing the “Space Monkey” E.P and Creepah releasing his 3rd mixtape “Dance To Your Own Drum”. What makes it more interesting is that both artists live in different states, although it still has not proved to slow them down, keeping a firm grip on social media platforms while still managing to release music videos and tour.

NLN have supported a number of industry heavyweights such as Tech N9ne, R.A The Rugged Man, The Four Owls and Futuristic to name a few.

Today, the duo is back with a new track, titled “Blocka Blocka,” featuring Redlyte and Yesir. Check it out here.

It true. This is not even an opinion. I’m kickin’ straight facts. If you have a problem with what I said, you can DM me on my Instagram, we can met up somewhere, and you can catch this fade.

Don’t tell me about Nas’ Illmatic, or B.I.G.’s Ready to Die. The universe is full of rare occurrences. But by and large, if you want to increase the odds of your album being memorable as a whole and not just peppered with a few hot singles between a bunch of filler bullshit tracks, have it produced by one beat maker.

I’ve always felt this but of course Jay-Z’s 4:44 confirmed this again for me. It’s just a solid piece of art that’s nice to listen to from beginning to end. Most albums produced by one producer are. This was not so unusual once upon a time but somewhere along the line, labels got so desperate to get a hit record that they hired every hot hip hop producer they could afford to insure that they got a hit record somewhere on the album.

If you need examples of the many consistent producer/artist collabs and noteworthy albums, I’ll present to you exhibit A,B,C,D, and the rest of the entire alphabet…

Dr.Dre’s work with N.W.A .and his solo album The Chronic produced memorable hip hop classics.

Organized Noise production relationship with Outkast

RZA and the Wu Tang crew.

DJ Premier and Guru (Gangstarr)

The best albums A Tribe Called Quest are known for were produced by Q-Tip

Almost anything produced entirely by Madlib (MF DOOM, Freddie Gibbs, etc…)

Blu and Exile – Below the Heavens

The Bomb Squad with Public Enemy

9th Wonder and Little Brother

J Dilla and Slum Village

I’ll even throw Kanye’s first couple of joints in the mix. And I can go on and on.

Cyhi The Prynce collaborator Truth Ali is back with two Summer-ready new singles from his forthcoming September 22 release, “The Wonder Years.” Taking his inspiration from Prince’s “Little Red Corvette” and it’s ‘one night stand’ story line, Ali put a more positive slant on that concept and came up with “Accidentally On Purpose.”

Also up is “Almost Paradise” – a remix that features Royce da 5’9″, Kxng Crooked and Iliana Eve that tackles the 1984 hit single of the same name from the “Footloose” soundtrack. The song is produced by King Graint and Jonathan Hay.

After almost a 3 year hiatus since his last album “The Story of My Life”, Bishop The Overseer returns with a new single “Runnin Back”. Intimate and laid back, the Contemporary R&B/Hip-Hop Surround Sound recording features smooth vocals and mesmerizing melodic instrumentation with a powerful commentary undertone of the present political climate. Produced by Tone Jonez, whose credits include everything from Grand Hustle artists to Disney and WGN, “Running Back” is the perfect re-introduction to the game for Billboard charting Bishop. The lyrics are elegantly garnished, carefully crafted, and thoughtful, dealing as they do with the topics of emigration in the pursuit of liberty and happiness, addiction and suicide.

Surprise! With very little warning, Future and Chris Brown “turn a sidepiece to a nine piece” on their new collaboration, “PIE,” produced by Detail and d.a. doman.

The video, directed by Nick Walker, starts off at a party filled with “side pieces.” HNDRXX promises that it “should be a good night,” while inviting Breezy to join him at his pad.

True to his word, several women show up to the house. One delivers food. Another joins shortly after and heads to the bathtub. Before long, a few more gorgeous girls arrive while Brown and Pluto sing about how sharing is caring.

“She don’t wanna go,” sings Future. “I roll 100 deep, we like sharing hoes.” Breezy adds: “It’s your birthday, go ahead and put that cake on me / Commas and zeros, I’ll be your hero with no cape on me.”

Although they manage to keep the ladies in different rooms at first, the women eventually realize what’s happening. Though Brown and Future have worried looks on their faces, it turns out the girls don’t mind at all, and the party resumes.

Speaking to BET, Future explained that the video has been waiting for its release. “We’ve had this video for a second,” he said. “We’ve been working on it for a second and we feel real good about this song. I asked Chris, ‘Is it a hit?’ He said, ‘For sure. We got one.’”

Earlier in the evening, Brown and Future both took the stage for separate sets at the BET Awards. Breezy performed “Privacy” and “Party” with Gucci Mane, while HNDRXX was joined by Kendrick Lamar for the “Mask Off (Remix).”

ATL based singer/songwriter, Chrystel wasted no time following the release of “Disciples” , already back today with the BigPapito aka Papa Fall-produced cut “Dangerous” via Rated RnB.
Throughout the song, the Salt Lake City transplant toys with the idea of knowing that any and everything can go wrong in this risky relationship but still proceeding.
Chrystel says of the song, “I freestyled the whole song the first time I heard the beat in the studio and ironically it’s my favorite out of all the records I’ve released. The song reminds me of all of the African music I heard growing up. It has a very nostalgic bass line.”

Just in time to roll your windows down and turn your systems up, New York’s own 303BAM released the visual to accompany his single “Right Now.” The track brings with it all that shit talking a good summer anthem needs including lines about the cars you’re pushing, the wave your team is on and the threads you rock. Through its moments of slower, melodic hooks and the switch to rapid fire verses, the track is summertime ear candy. The single perfectly aligns itself with the paired visual, (directed and edited by Director Picaso) which takes “its gonna be a movie” to its most literal sense in its quality and editing.

Houston native $hun releases his second EP titled Will Rap 4 A Way Outta Here. Coming in 12 tracks strong, the young emcee raps over all 9th Wonder-produced instrumentals from the producer’s Zion tape. Rapping over the unconventional beats, the tape finds $hun more relaxed than ever, tapping into the deepest depths of his creative confines. His bona fide narratives are flooded with substance atop the Southern-infused-meets-mellow-1970s-funk grooves. He’s not afraid to dish on his worldviews, tainted hues, and sweet-sounding love letters to his lady muse. From mock hotline call-ins, to silky smooth inflections, his delivery styles swap between relaxed, pscyhadelic, distorted, and rapid conversational presentations. This project stamps $hun’s new journey off into a different change of pace and place.

Flood Society, comprised of MC S.A.V and This Is Aces, unveils their first major release with their music video for “God’s Gift.” The company, a lifestyle brand, is initiating a new movement set to flood the globe. Paralleling the biblical story of Noah the company plans to flood the entertainment space. There was warning of a flood coming and people were apathetic to its mention.

Their latest song and visual hits the streets with its deep-rooted message. The Kavan The Kid-directed visual backdrop shapes the narrative for ”God’s Gift,” a song based on who MC S.A.V and This Is Aces are and what they represent at their core—and that’s faith and belief in God. Astral aerial shots cast the gloriful theme, perfect for the detailing of trials and tribulations that have led them to share a piece of their story with the world. Through “God’s Gift,” the pair express their gratitude towards life given through the sacrifice of his son.

The intention is to provide hope, inspiration, and to show the grace they were given to even be alive today to share this song with the world. The song shows that anything is possible, and no matter where you come from or what you’re going through there’s light at the end of the tunnel. If they made it this far, so can you. Flood Society is here to change the world. Purchase the song on iTunes here.
