Pittsburgh’s own Yury treats listeners to an introspective, self-produced audio release titled “Life Is.” Yury wields a uniquely mundane flow while sharing a handful of quotable gems throughout the song. Complimenting his piercing lyricism with a haunting chorus, “Life Is” a dark, yet hopeful ode to our days living.

For a city long dominated by electronic dance music, this year’s rendition of the Rolling Loud music festival may have very well shifted the entire landscape of hip-hop music in Miami for many years to come. Year one of the Rolling Loud music festival brought on passive, but relatable memories of the legendary Rock The Bells music festival, which only passed through the city of Miami in 2007 and 2008. But year three of Rolling Loud was a titan like none other, which brought on media heavyweights like Revolt TV to livestream the festival for the very first time. With special guest appearances by Diddy, Kylie Jenner, Skepta and Timberland (to name a few), there was a totally translucent, but deeply critical aura to the festival that we did not pay witness to in the previous two years of Rolling Loud’s existence. For the whole weekend, Miami, Florida blossomed from its weather to its 40,000+ concertgoers, whom played a monumental role in the expansion of Rolling Loud’s now three-day arrangement.

In year three, Rolling Loud’s overall coordination throughout the weekend was quite noteworthy; with innovative efforts that included water stations, unique stage-mic/phone setups for streaming and a prosperous system of both artist and festival merchandise that inevitably flooded the streets of Miami. Food vendors were plentiful, and despite the rather imposing prices, the menu options were diverse and as flavorsome as festival food can get. As the festival’s lead structures, the Postmates Stage and Monster Energy Stage both had a fair share of unique experiences from concertgoers, however only having two stages seemed a bit overwhelming and proved to be disadvantageous by the time Migos were set to perform on the festival’s final day. The delays were not as crushing as Future’s set last year, but it seemed that both Rolling …read more

ATL based DJ and producer – DJ ECool – is best known as Davido’s official DJ and for working with the likes of Doug E. Fresh, Ludacris, Victoria Kimani, WizKid and many more. He has spun records all over the world, from the Lincoln Center in New York City, to overseas in Paris and London.

Q: Tell us about your new single “Give Dem.” The song is charting alongside the likes of Wizkid. How did the song come together? And what made you pull together Danagog and Selasi for the track?

Q: What has the craziest DJ ECool fan experience been thus far? Whether at one of your gigs or on tour with Davido.

A: “I’ve had a fan tell me she was going to kill herself if I didn’t follow back on Snapchat lol…that was pretty crazy.”

Q: As you achieve more and more success, how does your creative process change?

A: “Honestly, my creative process changes or advances as I travel to different countries because I learn a lot as I travel (about different musical genres, cultures) and it impacts my music.”

Q: You’re obviously a successful DJ. Will we be hearing more music projects from you like “Give Dem?” If so, can you share any details?

As a forever present unofficial-turned-official member of the legendary rap group Slum Village, producer/rapper Young RJ has twice been entrusted with continuing the legacy of Detroit’s most important rap group. But with a prosperous music career behind the scenes and officially as part of the group, he’s ready to speak for himself with his solo debut, Blaq Royalt. And he explores various forms of corruption in new video “Huh?!”

The rapper/producer has produced for the likes of Slum Village, 50 Cent and G-Unit, Eric Roberson, De La Soul and Little Brother. On upcoming album Blaq Royalt, he shows the same musical versatility that made him such a reliable producer.

Washington, DC-native emcee J Scienide released “The Jux,” a traditional sounding hip-hop track produced by Gensu Dean featuring DJ Iran today. According to the J Scienide, the song is inspired by a conversation with a few older men in October of last year. He was in Brooklyn at a cookout.

J Scienide says the following about his latest release, “I had the beat playing on repeat as I was on the way to a cookout back in October. The guys talked about the good ol’ days when they used to go to parties at The Tunnel, Latin Quarter, and Mars; see people get robbed or partake in a robbery (or a jux). They grew up in New York City during the 1980s. At the time at the cookout, Slick Rick and BDP (Boogie Down Productions) played in the background. Subsequently, I grabbed a pen and a napkin. Then, I started writing to the beat. Gensu’s stripped down instrumental fit perfectly. It brought out my lyrics, and made me reminisce about sitting on the stoop in Brooklyn with the guys.”

Trump’s campaign rhetoric and disproportionate police killings of unarmed African Americans have had the country extremely divided along the lines of race. Knowing how important symbols of unity can be, Majik n’ Brrrd decided to go full bore with the new moniker and create a group that rejected the division and racism of the times. The duo agreed to refocus their efforts through all the turmoil and get back to crafting a masterpiece.

They came up with an 8-track CD (titled Magic and Bird) under the newly created name, Majik n’ Brrrd, which dropped last month. The project has everything from street bangers to conscious tracks. The theme of the album can be felt echoing throughout the melodious chorus’ and gritty word play; that instead of focusing on our minute differences, we should be focusing on the vast majority of struggles that make us similar. In a Jersey joint effort, Mike Zombie and Dougie F come together for a brand new release with “Coin In The Bank.”
“Coin In The Bank” is inspired by Sonic 2, featuring a jingle from the video game’s “Chemical Plant” stage. The quirky reworked chiptune is backed by a guitar accompaniment from Torin Martinez. The cover artwork, designed by Mike Z., features two game characters–one with red hair and the other with a yellow top. The red-haired character (Super Sonic) is representative of Mike’s real-life red tresses while the yellow one (Knuckles) is symbolic of Dougie’s yellow du-rag wearing swag.
Listen to “Coin In The Bank” above. The song is available on iTunes here.

VA artist Phillmysoul aims to keep the Virginia tradition alive; bringing creativity and content to music through honesty and versatility. Today, returns with the official video to his love-inspired single “Make It Work.” Here’s what he had to say about the record:
“These days with our generation, relationships fail more than they succeed with part of being due to immaturity and people not taking time to truly nourish them. I’m guilty of it myself and I’ve been in situations where no matter my flaws, the other person is willing to make it work, hence the song and me writing about past experience.”

“Dreamworld” is a 17-track debut album experience from R&B/Hip Hop artist Tairey.

Some records were made in Los Angeles, others in Houston, but most in Pittsburgh’s storied ID Labs, while one or two came from the legendary rooms of Quad Studios in New York. A majority of the production on the project was handled by Tairey’s close friend and collaborator Sam Conturo.

Several tracks like “Magic”, “No More Drugs”, “Provoke”, and “Rideout” stand out on the project, however, as the listener delves deeper into the project, one can only appreciate the wide variety and range of emotion that Tairey puts on each and every track. Listen here.

Shorty looks to solidify himself in the rap game with the Hot New Hip Hop premiere of his official music video for “I Might.” Featuring G-Unit‘s Kidd Kidd and rap legend Juvenile, this joint is a banger.
The song, which came out last summer, has already attracted a lot of attention down south. The high energy visual finds the Louisiana based trio surrounded by beautiful women while flashing wads of money. Shorty spits about living the fast life and nothing stops him from stunting repeatedly. Juvenile and Kidd Kidd jump on the party anthem near the end of the track, cosigning the budding emcee.

Do not disturb. Chris Brown asks for “Privacy” on the sex-drenched single off his upcoming album Heartbreak on a Full Moon. The R-rated bedroom banger, produced by d.a. doman, finds Breezy back in baby-making mode, seducing his girl with all the right moves and unapologetically raunchy lines, which are not for the faint of heart.

“Ain’t nobody here but you and me / Lickin’ your private parts / And I know you love your privacy,” he sings before boasting, “Ain’t gotta pay for that pu**y / My d**k can change your life.”

Brown, who will guest star on “Black-ish” next month, is gearing up to release his eighth album Heartbreak on a Full Moon later this year. The project has already spawned the singles “Grass Ain’t Greener” and “Party” featuring Gucci Mane and Usher.

Work up a sweat to Breezy’s sex jam.
